How it works
Our service simple and easy to use. The process is streamlined is easy to follow steps so that you can have your parts ready to ship in a matter of minutes.
1.) Determine which parts need to be repaired. OEM RDC performs the following services:
- Seat Belt Retractors and Buckle Pre-TensionersThis one is pretty basic. If your vehicle has been in an accident, there's a good chance the seat belts will be deployed. You can perform a quick examination of the seat belts to confirm this. Pull on the belt and see if it's locked and/or won't retract back in. That's generally a sure tell sign that you will need to send the seat belts in for a repair.
In addition to a visual inspection, you can also scan your vehicle with an OBD2 scan tool and see what codes are stored. Look out for codes like "High Resistance," "Low Resistance," "Short Circuit," or "Open Circuit" and make note of which seat belts the codes are listed for. That'll help determine which ones need to be sent in for a repair.
If the seat belts are already out of the vehicle, you can try giving them a shake and listen for a rattling noise inside the mechanism. You may also test your seat belt with a multimeter to check for resistance. A good seat belt will display a resistance value between 2-3 ohms. - Seat Belt Webbing Replacement
If your seat belt is cut, torn, frayed, chewed up by your dog (yes, it's common) - or if you're simply looking to change your color or refresh your interior, we offer a seat belt webbing replacement service.
When using this service, please be sure to include all the hardware in the package (male buckle tongue, anchor points, shoulder height adjuster loops, etc.). This is especially true if your belt was cut entirely and the hardware slipped off of the belt.
- Airbag Control Module/SRS Unit
If the vehicle has had any airbag deployment in the accident, there is a good chance the SRS module will also need to be sent in for a reset. Airbag deployments will store "DTCs" that won't clear with an OBD2 scan tool. The SRS module will need to be removed from the vehicle and mailed in along with the seat belts for a reset.
Look out for codes like "Crash History Stored" or "Deployment Commanded."
Note: The Safety Restraint System on your vehicle is continually monitoring various inputs from different sensors in your vehicle. Depending on the severity of the accident, the point of impact, and the presence or absence of passengers in your vehicle, not every seat belt or airbag in the vehicle will deploy. We do not repair airbags, we recommend purchasing new/used replacements from an authorized dealer/salvage parts yard.
